This is the "original" statue of the Archangel St. Michael slaying a dragon. It was added to the Mont-Saint-Michel in the late nineteenth century along with the tower and the spire. Replaced by a golden replica in the 1980s, the original sits inside the abbey today, next to the gift shop.
